Guided Fasts/Detoxification

Our bodies appreciate and benefit from a vacation too!  Build up of toxins and cellular waste accumulates through just being alive, pollution, stress, unhealthy food choices, and physical challenges.  It is an important part of health maintenance to cleanse and/or fast periodically.  Spend your time with us treating your body to a rest and experience the benefits.  We will assist you through every step of the way.  We will pick the type of cleanse based on your needs and goals.

  Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon Hydrotherapy(also known as colonics) is a safe, gentle and thorough method of removing waste from the large intestine using purified water. It is the gentle internal bathing of the colon.  Colonics help to cleanse the colon of accumulated debris, toxins, trapped gas, mucus, and undigested food. These often interfere with elimination, assimilation, and digestion and affect our level of well-being.  This cleansing can offer us increased and vibrant energy, healthier elimination, and an improved level of health.

  Jin Shin Jyutsu®

Jin Shin Jyutsu® “Physio-philosophy” is an ancient Japanese art harmonizing mind, body and spirit.  Bringing balance to the body’s energies, Jin Shin Jyutsu facilitates our own profound healing capacity.  It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, promoting optimal health and well-being, inducing relaxation, and reducing the effects of stress.
Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six "safety energy locks" along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can restore balance.
Applied by a trained practitioner, a session lasts about an hour. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles, or use of drugs or substances. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on the body.  The Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool for those who want to address existing stress or health disharmonies and those who simply wish to play an active role in maintaining their health, harmony and well being.

Far Infrared Sauna

Far infrared helps detoxify your body by removing the accumulation of potentially carcinogenic heavy metals and chemicals. It is extremely effective as a part of a total detoxification program.  Your skin, from profuse perspiration, cleans all the impurities creating beautiful and improved tone, texture and color.  While relaxing in the Far Infrared Sauna your body is hard at work. One session can create approximately the same amount of perspiration as a six-mile run.

As your body increases sweat production to cool itself off, your heart

works harder to boost circulation which increases heart rate, cardiac out put and metabolic rate, thus improving your cardiovascular system. Also, as your body temperature rises, it strengthens the immune system by creating an "artificial fever" that kills many viruses and bacteria. The sauna is also exceptional for burning calories, controlling weight and removing cellulite, (waste products that are trapped beneath the surface of the skin). Far infrared is effective for decreasing pain.  The most immediate and noticeable effect is tremendous relaxation and decreased stress.  Relaxation alone can have a profound impact on health. (We are proud to offer saunas by High Tech Health as part of our services).

  Massage Therapy/Body work

Physically, massage can relax and refresh the muscles, assist in keeping muscles flexible and pliable, increase the circulation of blood, increase lymphatic flow and may relieve muscle soreness and stiff joints.  Emotionally, massage can relieve fatigue, tension, calm the nervous system and promote a sense of relaxation and renewed energy.  Spiritually, massage is renewing.

Stone massage - hot and cold basalt stones inspire circulation and healing as they are used to massage you in the technique of your choice - light pressure relaxation, deep tissue sports, and a combination based on immediate need.

Lomi Lomi – Traditional Hawaiian Massage - the rhythmic application of thumbs, knuckles, forearms and elbows to specific areas of tension. Lomi Lomi relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation and creates a sense of well-being.

Swedish – oil massage using five types of manipulation: effleurage (long strokes), petrissage (kneading), friction (deep circular movement), tapotement (percussion), and vibration to promote relaxation, improve circulation, relieve tension, and expand the range of motion.

Lymphatic Drainage – focused on draining the lymph fluid from the extremities into the nodes for elimination of toxins.  As there is not a pump in the lymphatic system, lymph is moved through muscular contraction and respiration.  Without movement the lymph stagnates and the body is more prone to infection and dis-ease.  It promotes balance of the body's internal chemistry and promotes functioning of the immune system.

Deep Tissue - works through muscle tension layer by layer, reaching the deeper muscles where chronic pain and tension may be released. Deep work is often slower than regular bodywork, allowing the soft tissues to open at deeper levels.

Sports Massage - deep tissue strokes, muscle massage, release points, and joint movements are employed to correct harmful movement patterns and prevent tissue damage during exercise.

Thai -Thai massage is a cross between acupressure, yoga, and Zen shiatsu and is inspired by Buddhist teachings.   The actual massage consists of a technique that uses slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along the body's energy lines.   Thai massage concentrates on applying pressure along these energy lines using the palms of the hands, thumbs, elbows, and feet.  Emphasis is on stretching and loosening the body.  You wear loose clothing and lay on a mattress on the floor. No oil is applied.  The effort from the practitioner works to free tension within the body. Practitioners also position the body into yoga-like poses and gently rock the body to more deeply open joints and facilitate limbering.

Ear Candling

Ear candling is a non-invasive, peaceful and relaxing experience. An ear candle is a long hollow tube tapered to a hand-finished tip that is fit comfortably into the ear. The large end of the candle is lit and the smoke created by the heat spirals down through the ear canal. The warmth of the smoke gently dislodges foreign debris, softens old earwax and helps evaporate excess moisture.  This is known to relieve ear ache pain, provide relief from the pressure in the sinuses and allow the ear to naturally push out the ear wax. The ear candling process helps detoxify the lymphatic system and clear the sinuses, which can also improve the clarity of hearing, sight, smell and taste. More subtle changes may occur on an energetic level resulting in an overall sense of well-being

  Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of treatment that involves heating the air inside a cup and placing the inverted cup on some part of the body. A vacuum is created, which anchors the cup to the skin and pulls the skin upward. Oil is applied to the skin to facilitate moving the glass cups along the skin.  In some cases, the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle (the technique is called glided cupping).  It is believed that dis-ease is due to stagnation or blocked energy.  Cupping will unblock and realign energy, thereby restoring health.

Generally, the cup is left in place for typically 5-10 minutes.  The skin reddens due to the congestion of blood flow.  The cup is removed by pressing the skin along side it to allow some outside air to leak into it, thus equalizing the pressure and releasing it.  Some bruising along the site of the rim of the cup is expected. . Any bruising or swelling is likely to be minor, temporary, and will probably go away within a few days.

Cupping is mainly used for the treatment of pain, gastro-intestinal disorders, lung diseases (especially chronic cough and asthma), and paralysis.  Cupping causes tissues to release toxins; activates the lymphatic system; clears colon blockages; helps activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries; activates the skin; clears stretch marks; and improves varicose veins.

Kayaking Tours

The calm waters, abundant sea life, great snorkeling, picturesque sea caves and beautiful weather surrounding the Big Island make it an ideal location for a wide variety of kayak tours.  Here in the lee of the giant volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea the tranquil waters are crystal clear and teeming with sea life. Don’t be surprised to see dolphins, honus (turtles), perhaps a manta ray or even enjoy whale watching in season (peak months are from December to March).  Snorkeling is particularly great as well and can be done right from your kayak.

One of the great kayaking and snorkeling spots off the Kona coast is the famous Kealakekua/Keauhou coastline. We can paddle our way along this historic (Captain Cook was killed here) and beautiful coastline complete with rugged sea cliffs and spectacular sea caves.  There are endless places to explore and kayak to on the Big Island.
